About Us

Jelinek Cork Group

The Company
Jelinek Cork is nearly 150 years old. The company was originally founded in Europe in 1855. During the 1950s, plants and offices were also established in both the USA and Canada. Today a number of associated companies throughout the world make up the Jelinek Cork Group. The result is that the Jelinek Cork Group today supplies and distributes cork and related products to most parts of the world.

From its early beginnings, Jelinek Cork has always been a major supplier of cork stoppers. Initially cork stoppers were supplied to the leading breweries of the world when beer bottles were still sealed with natural corks. Distilleries and wineries quickly learned and understood the unique characteristics of using cork in sealing their bottles and Jelinek Cork was soon supplying these two industries with their stopper requirements as well, and continues to do so today.

Over the years Jelinek Cork has introduced new and exciting products to vastly different market areas. The automotive industry and engine parts (gaskets, carburetor and level gauge floats), specialty components (for musical instruments, batteries, sporting goods and shoe trades), industrial goods and building products (decorative floor and wall coverings, acoustical, anti-static and insulating materials) as well as numerous products for the stationery and home improvement markets are but a few of the more important industries being supplied by the Jelinek Cork Group throughout the world.

Long established relations and associations within the cork producing countries surrounding the Mediterranean Sea enable Jelinek Cork to have a continued and steady supply of cork to service their customers.

Mission
The Jelinek Cork Group recognizes the uniqueness of cork and the limited availability of this environmentally sensitive resource. As long as it is treated with care, respect, and understanding the cork oak tree will forever continue to be a renewable but limited resource. Jelinek Cork, while responding to the growing demands of the modern cork market, is dedicated to protecting the eternal continuity of the cork oak tree and at the same time providing the public with this "environmentally friendly" and renewable resource for the enhancement of and appreciation by mankind.
